With over 26 years of experience in audiology, Dr. Paul Kuster is a trusted expert in hearing healthcare and the founder of Ascent Audiology & Hearing in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He is dedicated to providing exceptional, patient-centered care by combining advanced hearing technology with a personalized approach.

Dr. Kuster earned his Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Stockton State College, a Master of Science in Audiology from California State University, Sacramento, and his Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) from the University of Florida.

An Army Veteran, Dr. Kuster brings a strong sense of discipline, service, and precision to his practice. He is also an avid marksman who enjoys the focus the sport demands. Outside the office, he loves spending time with his friendly and loyal office pups, Chewy and Taffy, who brighten the clinic and welcome patients with wagging tails.

Dr. Kuster is passionate about helping patients reconnect with the sounds of life—offering expert guidance, personalized solutions, and care that truly makes a difference.

Dr. Ryan Malkiewicz brings nearly 15 years of experience to Ascent Audiology. He previously specialized in equilibrium disorders but now focuses on hearing aids and amplification, with an emphasis on serving Veterans and underserved communities.

A Fredericksburg area resident for nearly 30 years, Dr. Malkiewicz grew up in Stafford and now lives in Fredericksburg with his wife and five cats. He earned his undergraduate degrees from Virginia Tech and his Doctorate in Audiology from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

In addition to his audiology career, Dr. Malkiewicz commands a Medical Unit in the United States Army Reserve. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, kayaking, and competing in triathlons and adventure races.

Dr. Malkiewicz is dedicated to improving his patients’ quality of life through better hearing and looks forward to continuing to serve the Fredericksburg community at Ascent Audiology.
